Before Christmas, the Bag Monster/Lady ran into Santa Claus. He said he was very proud of the efforts Fort McMurrayites have made with reducing waste. He says he uses the biggest of reusable bags on his Christmas Eve voyage (his mega sac full of gifts!)
In the first 3 months of the bag ban, Fort McMurray has kept 6.3 million single-use bags from going into landfill.
When talking with a police officer the same day, she mentioned that in a 3-day weekend, our city created trash at the landfill the size of a football field, 8 feet deep. That's without the bags.
